This is a superb little red from Chile; full of flavour, yet soft and delicate; a bargain we drop.
The Carmenere grape originated from France, but when phylloxera hit, they shipped all the unaffected grapes into Chile, and the rest is history. It's hugely popular as a soft red wine with heaps of fruit flavours. They follow organic principles, so the wine is unfiltered, like most of NZ's Pinot Noir now.
Intense red with a purplish rim, this wine offers fruity aromas of plums and strawberries accompanied by spicy notes. In the mouth, it has a soft texture, ripe tannins, and nice acidity. Cork closure.
